INSTALLING CONTRACT WALLCOVERING (NON-REVERSE)

Preparation of the substrate

  • The substrate must be dry, clean, slightly absorbent and even.
  • Remove the old wallpaper. We recommend Arte Easypro.
  • Sand off old, loose paint layers and remove the sanding dust. If the wall is uneven, it must be levelled.
  • Degrease the walls if necessary.
  • The walls must be pH neutral. Otherwise they must be neutralised.
  • Treat the walls with an appropriate fixative. It is recommended to apply a high-quality water-based primer afterwards.
  • Do not hang wallcovering on walls that are not sufficiently dry. This may cause discolouration and the adhesive may not provide sufficient adhesion.
  • If the colour of the substrate differs greatly from the colour of the wallcovering, it is recommended to first paint the wall with an adhesive primer in a similar shade to the new wallcovering.

Adhesive

Arte Clearpro or a good quality dispersion adhesive.

Hanging

  • Check the product for faults before hanging it. Examine the goods to assure that colour, pattern, quantity and quality is as ordered.
  • Sort the goods by batch number, and organize in roll number sequence, starting with the highest number.
  • Only hang rolls with the same batch number next to each other. All material should be installed in roll sequence (numerical), within a batch number, starting with the highest number first and going in decreasing order, with each strip in sequence as cut from the roll. Piecing or hanging headers with strips cut out of sequence can cause unsatisfactory shading.
  • Cut the strips of wallcovering to the correct length.
  • Avoid creases in and damage to the material, and handle with care at all times.
  • Uniformly apply adhesive to the back of the lengths using a brush or a roller. Fold both ends of the length inwards and then roll up the complete length. WARNING: Do not crease the wallcovering in any way.
  • Leave to soak for at least 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Place the lengths against the wall. Overlapping and double-cutting, and pretrimming the wallcovering, both have advantages in making acceptable seems.
  • WARNING : do not damage the wall when double-cutting.
  • Use a seam roller on the seams.
  • Using a sharp knife and a ruler, carefully cut the surplus wallcovering from the top and bottom Using a damp sponge, immediately remove any adhesive stains before it dries. Do this after hanging each strip.
  • Finish papering a complete wall before starting to paper the next.
  • Check the result for faults after hanging 3 strips of wallcovering. If any errors are visible, stop the work and contact the manufacturer.

Method

This wallcovering should NOT be reverse hung.
